Van Reed Youth Football is for players ranging from ages 7-12 and open to
girls and boys.
Our tackle program belongs to the Berks Inter County Youth Football (BICYFL) and is a founding organizations in the league. In a typical year, we are proud to be able to field multiple teams for each level of play.
By having multiple teams of players per team at each level, it enables us to separate teams according to experience and skill level so all the kids can have a positive experience. Our teams range from Mighty Mites (7-8); Mites (9-10) & Midgets (11-12) playing a Varsity (Sunday) & JV (Saturday) schedule versus other teams within our league.
Our focus is on the development of skills so that our players learn the sport of football, have fun and move on to the next level of playing. We have, at Wilson, great youth programs (Van Reed & our sister program Lincoln Park) both of which have been very successful in maintaining a strong Wilson program. We strive for the maximum amount of participation and playing time for all ages. Second, we want athletes to play at a level where they can be successful and have a positive learning experience.
Summer Camp begins early August and run through November. Attending camp will begin to condition the child to playing a contact sport. This is also the time that the coaches work with the kids to develop and assure proper techniques are being used on the playing field. Once school starts practices are reduced to two or three nights a week with a game a week.
All practices are at Wilson West Middle School.
OUR COACHES
